Suggest Treatment For Sever Abdominal Pain And Constipation

My mom has had 8 recurrent episode of C. Difficile diarhea. She in on her third trial of Dificid. She was on 10 days in early Oct. and was readmitted to the hospital November 16 for several days and Dificid was again started. She is home and developed more severe abd. pain/tenderness and hard, small marbles of stool. Is constipation common? She is trying to get well and find a donor for Fecal Stool Transplant.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your mom have symptoms of severe abdominal pain and constipation. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query :
- Gastroenteritis
- Lactose intolerance
- Electrolyte imbalance
- Food poisoning
- Irritable bowel syndrome
- Crohn's disease

Need not to worry. For now eat light and non spicy , avoid food like seafood and nuts , take antacid after every meal and keep your head elevated while lying down. You should take diet rich in fibres and take plenty of fluids. I would suggest you to consult gastroenterologist for proper examination. Doctor may order stool test , ultrasound , endoscopy along with that take history. Doctor may prescribe laxative , ornidazole or albendazole along with ranitidine.
