Suggest Treatment For Sepsis

My boyfriend has been hospitalized for about 2:1/2 months with sepsis. About 3 weeks ago his blood cultures came back negative then about 1 week ago came back V positive again. The hospital drug tested him and found meth in his system and said that caused the positive cultures. He didn t inject it so how could that have caused the positive culture?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

They might be suspecting infective endocarditis or any injectable born infection as cause of the primary sepsis by it if toxicology report suggested methamphetamine inside it may be reconfirmed and if still positive may need forensic investigation of he denies affirmatively to be injecting it himself.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
