Scabies though harmless can be difficult to treat, local application of ointments is not enough to be fully treated from the condition. Scabies mite may get immune to permethrine in recurrent infections. Use benzyl benzoate lotion applied all over the body from below the hair line including ears, in between finger webs and toes. Keep this lotion for 24 hrs before taking a warm shower, take care not to apply the medicine to cuts, wounds, scalp, muscosa of nose or mouth. Repeat the procedure after a week and follow this method even with people of close contact. Hygiene is the best measure you can take to avoid re-occurrence of infection. Cut and clean nails after the application of medicine before getting into shower, change all the bed linen and clothing as the scabies mite can survive in them, clean and give wash to pets if you have any.
