Suggest Treatment For Roughness And Bumps On The Tongue

in the last to days I have notice small rough areas on the side of my tongue. when I go to pull my tongue out and to the side there is also a red area on the rough, bumpy area. While this is slightly painful it is very much irritating. It is only very small areas but they are in the same exact place on each side. I would like to know if I should be concerned?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain sore bumpy areas on sides of tongue along with redness and pain seems to be due to inflammation of the tongue leading to Apthous Stomatitis..
It can be due to a number of causes like deficiency of iron and vitamin B12,physical injury, burning with hot foods and chemicals, tongue bite, stress etc..
I would suggest you to gargle with a numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine to relieve pain..
You can also take anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen to relieve inflammation..
Take a multivitamin tablet daily..
You can do cool water rinses and suck ice pops..
Avoid hot and spicy foods..
Maintain a good oral hygiene..
