Suggest Treatment For Rheumatoid Arthritis

My sister in law is on hydroxychloroquine for rhuemetoid arthritis. She has difficulty taking any mess because she reacts. She was in a pool yesterday exercisingin the sun, felt like she got eg. Suntan lotion in her eye. By evening both eyes were burning and hurting and very sensitive to light. She is still experiencing light sensitivity and pain today. Since she is from Canada and presently on holidays in USA, and her doctor cannot be reached until Monday, I am wondering how serious this is, what could it be, and what you recommend she do until Monday.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
hi
She should visit ER and have her eye examined by opthalmologist with tests like retinoscopy, fundoscopy.hydroxychloroquin may at times cause eye problems and may be discontinued till her doctor attends her.Instead NSAIDS like aleve may be given if she has pain in joints and physical therapy of joints.Let her use dark glasses till an opthalmologist examines her.
best wishes
