Suggest Treatment For Redness And Swelling In The Shin Area

My husband got hit with a softball two weeks ago about 3 , inches above the foot in the shin area. That area turned red and the following morning there was purple down just above the arch of the foot. That discoloration is almost gone. The disturbing part is that the area that the ball hit is red, still swollen, and hot to the touch.

Hello,

As per your description of the area your husband might have cellulite (infection of the skin and underlying tissue).

Since local injury can also trigger a local inflammatory response which can lead to all these symptoms.

Take OTC analgesic like Paracetamol or Ibuprofen for pain relief. if it's getting worse and your husband feels fever go and see your doctor for detailed check-up and treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
