Suggest Treatment For Redness And Swelling In The Eyelid

My mother is an 80 year old quadriplegic the last 18 years. She has developed a new problem of red swollen scaley eyelids that are now oozing pus. Is this rosacea? She has had that on her face before but never any problem with her eyelids. I thought it may be liver toxicity from long term doxycyclene for a wound.

Hi.
As per your case history your mother is having acute eczema on eyelids, my treatment advice is -
1. Don't scratch the lesion as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic plus steroid cream like fusiderm-b cream twice daily on it.
3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine twice daily for 7-10 days.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, oral steroid taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
