Suggest Treatment For Red Painful Lump On Eyelid

My husband is 51 and yesterday afternoon we noticed a red bump on his eyelid . This morning it was quite a bit larger and became painful so he tried a hot compress and now he can barely open his eye and it is very red and hot even throbbing. We believe it is a spider bite what should we do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

From the symptoms that you mentioned,it seems that your husband may be having chalazion of the eye.

If i were his treating doctor,i would have prescribed him an antibiotic eyedrop containing gatifloxacin,
anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen and
an eye ointment containing ciprofloxacin.

After providing the primary medicines,i would have advised him to consult with an ophthalmologist.

Hope your query has been solved,
Please hit a thanks if i could be helpful to you.
Take care
