Pulmonologist 's  Response
Thanks for your question on HCM.
In my opinion you are having COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) due to smoking for years.
So your cough is mostly due to COPD.
Better to immediately quit smoking and consult pulmonologist and get done
1. Chest x ray
2. PFT (pulmonary function test).
Chest x ray is needed to rule out chronic infection.
PFT is needed to diagnose COPD. It will also tell you about severity of the disease. And treatment of COPD is based on severity only.
In pine Ruby Hall hospital is good for pulmonology. Avoid smoking is the essential and most required step in the management of COPD.
You may also require inhaled bronchodilators.
So consult pulmonologist and discuss all these.
