Suggest Treatment For Recurrent UTI Infection

I have had a UTI off and on for about 5 months. Hadn t had one in years. Now I am having vaginal burning without the burning during urination. I am currently on keflex. Have been on cranberry juice and lots of water. Could it be something other than a uti?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I do understand your solicitousness.

As per your clinical history, now you have vaginal burning for which you have been taken an antibiotic so perpetuate and culminate it. There are many pathological disorders for this burning sensation to transpire. You can integrate Clotrimazole vaginal tab and it should be inserted into vagina. You can take Fluconazole only and add metronidazole.

You can do few things at home to avert it.
• Dip a tampon in yogurt and insert it in the vagina for 1 hour. After abstracting it, clean the area with warm water and pat dry exhaustively. Do it twice a day.
• Boric acid suppositories are very efficacious and can be made facilely at home. To make the suppositories, fill “00 size” gelatin capsules with boric acid. Insert 1 capsule deeply into your vagina at bedtime, once a week.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Uday Nath Sahoo
