Suggest Treatment For Pulled Muscle On The Neck

2 weeks ago I was diagnosed with a pulled muscle in my neck/back area that was pinching a nerve in my arm. Well, the neck is getting better but my pointer finger is very sensitive to the touch feels really stiff when I bend it and my middle finger is almost the same way. My arm is very sore. The dr gave me a muscle relaxer and ibprophen both of which I have finished and still having pain and soreness. Can I get your input?

Hi,

It sounds like you may be experiencing some residual nerve pain and stiffness following your neck injury. It's important to continue following up with your doctor and letting them know about any ongoing symptoms. In addition to medication, there are a few things you can try to help alleviate your pain and stiffness:
- Ice or heat therapy: alternating between cold and hot packs can help reduce inflammation and improve blood flow to the affected area.
- Gentle stretching: neck and arm stretches can help improve the range of motion and relieve tension in the affected muscles.
- Massage therapy: a licensed massage therapist may be able to help alleviate muscle tension and improve circulation in the affected area.
- Physical therapy: a physical therapist can provide exercises and stretches tailored to your specific needs to help improve strength and flexibility in the affected muscles.
- Rest: it's important to give your body time to heal, so be sure to take breaks and avoid activities that exacerbate your symptoms.

If your symptoms persist or worsen despite these interventions, be sure to follow up with your doctor for further evaluation and treatment.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
