Suggest Treatment For Pulled Muscle On The Lower Ribs

I thought I pulled a muscle in my left side lower ribs while stretching right to work on a pole. I m a lineman. That was 2 mos. ago and the pain is still there. It goes from a dull persistent ache to a stabbing pain. If you lift your left thumb up to your last rib on left side and push above and below last rib its hurts under that rib. Hiatal hernia? Organs?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible that you have both nerve and muscle injury. Nerve pain would normally cause pain similar to the stabbing intermittent pain that you are describing.
The pain can also be described as burning, tingling, sticking etc.

Since there was no severe trauma to the area, healing should occur on its own , though this can take weeks to months in some cases.

If it worsens or does not improve then you may need to be assessed for the other causes of nerve related pain such as: vitamin b12 or folate deficiency, diabetes, exposure to toxins, liver or kidney disease

I hope this helps
