Suggest Treatment For Prostate Cancer

I have been diagnosed three months ago with prostate cancer, gleason score 7, psa..18.5, no modules (ct scan) no spread (bone scan). I am currently scheduled for Robotik surgery in January 9th in Miami. I am considering the option of proton therapy in Orlando center because of side effects (nerves..incontingance , erectile disfunction) 1.Which proceedure spares berves better? Which has better curative rate? Which overall for my grade 7 cancer. I am 70 yrs old. 60 pounds overweight.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

We will try to help you in the best way possible. First of all it's sad to know what you had been going through lately.

Based on the history you have shared, surgery can yield better results especially when a tumour is confined and hasn't spread and is an ideal time for surgery.

Such side effects as you mentioned are less common even post surgery and you may carry on with the plan as doctors have proposed for you.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
