Suggest Treatment For Prolonged Acute Bronchitis

Hi, I have been diagnosed with acute bronchitis. It s been dragging on since just before Thanksgiving. I keep coughing and most of the time it is not productive. Seems the more I talk the more I cough. Interestingly, I could go very little at night. Took two different antibiotics and no help. Now in addition to everything, I have a low grade fever and feel exhausted all the time. Wonder what I should do next..

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have prolonged acute bronchitis. Well acute bronchitis is usually caused by viruses, typically the same viruses that cause colds and flu . Antibiotics don't kill viruses, so this type of medication isn't useful in most cases of bronchitis. I would suggest you t consult chest specialist again for proper examination . Doctor may order chest x-ray , sputum test and pulmonary funcion test . Doctor nay prescribe anti viral , anti inflammatory , anti allergic and pulmonary therapy .
