Suggest Treatment For Presence Of Blood In Stool

Hello. Im a African American Male 44 yrs of age. In in pretty healthy shape. As of today iMacgoing to the bathroom twice and both times my stool has had blood in it. This has never happened before. Should I contact my doctor? Also im not gay and has not participated in any type of unusual sex. Only normal as with my wife and not objects have been used.

HI,
I understand your concern.
Stools with frank blood is mostly seen in case of piles which bleed.Piles are tortuous, big veins in rectum which get injured due to hard stools.
Treatment t of piles consists of-
1) - Dietary changes to facilitate smooth & easy defecation. It consists of high fiber diet with lot of vegetables,salads,fruits with skins (whenever edible)with lot of clean water.
- regular exercises walking/ abdominal exercises.
-Use of stool softeners/ espaghula,lactulose to avoid constipation.Regular use should be avoided for fear of them getting ineffective.
- Local ointments -corticosteroids,local anestetic ointments.
2) if above treatment is not helpful, consultation of anorectal surgeon & treatment in form of Banding, infrared coagulation, sclerotherapy,orsurgical treatment can be applied as per need.
