Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries

I can understand your concern about your husband. Due to his PTSD and depression he has probably resorted to multiple drug abuses like alcohol, pot (marijuana) and cigarette. He is a known hypertensive and has already to heart bypass so cigarette smoking and pot is like poison to him. Smoking can worse heart illnesses and may increase risk of heart attacks. Try to make him aware about these side effects. He should be regularly warned about these serious risks to his life. If he becomes agree to see a psychiatrist then that would be very easy and he can function like normal.

If he has dependence to alcohol then in such case proper detox treatment by using benzodiazepines in acute phase can help. This will help him to come out of addiction. For treatment of PTSD and depression medicines like SSRIs can help. These medicines would help him in coming out of depression. Please visit a psychiatrist for detailed prescription.

Thanks, I hope this helps you. Take care
