Hi doctor, My 8 year old has been diagnosed with Pityriasis rosea. She has swimming lessons for 2 weeks straight. The school children won t be able to have showers and will just get changed into their school clothes. The chlorine will remain on her skin for 3 hours before she can come home and have a shower. My question is will the chlorine worsen the Pityriasis rosea (irritate or inflame it)? Should I request that the teacher takes her out 5mins before the end of the swimming class and allows her to take a shower to wash off the chlorine? Thank you for your time.
Yes chlorinated water is acidic and cause irritant dermatitis on pityriasis rosea lesions> she can either avoid swimming for 2 weeks or take shower immediately followed by application of calamine lotion
