Suggest Treatment For Persistent Headaches And Numbness In The Hands

Sincea few days before Halloween I have had a headache. I thought it was a sinus headache which I get a lot of. So for few days I flushed my nose ate vitamin c which usually works. This time no luck so I got amoxicillain. Well 5 days in I realize I m getting worse and not better. Saturday after Halloween i started getting blurry vision seeing spots or floaters and no matter what I did I my hands/feet were tingling and freezing. By that Monday I went to the ER. They did a cat scan found my siinus cavity completely clear sent me home with diagnosis of a headache and told me to follow up with their family physician. Wednesday I saw their doctor who treated me with a mild pain killer and muscle relaxers thinking I had a typical tension headache that the cranial muscle was stuck. Days in that was working and my symptoms got worse. I was off balanced and I had numbness in my hand and feet on and off followed by extreme heavy feeling in one or both of my legs that made me fear walking it last for a few minuets and goes away. Pretty bad memory issues. He sent me for a MRI which came out normal. So now he s put me on augmentin and that s not helping. He sent a order for me to see physical therapy for muscle contractions. When I went for my evalutation physical therapy refused to pick me up and STRONGLY URGED me to see neurology and I can t get in to see neurology for weeks and I m not getting better I have days where I m ok and my symptoms are tolerable and other days that I m myserable and walking around like I m drunk and can hardly function normally and keep my balance

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Have studied your case and I think that numbness and Parasthesia in the hand are due to nerve damage secondary to Diabetes.

This is called Diabetic neuropathy. I have the following suggestions to you.

1. Maintain blood glucose control.
2. Tablet Methylcobal daily.
3. Tablet Pregabalin one daily.

These two medicines help in fast relief and prevent any further progression of this problem. Your feet swelling will also improve if your sugar is under control.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
