I have a dry cough from last 6 days. And from two days I have black stools with very much difficulty. Kindly suggest me any syrup or medicine. Currently i am taking Codivik-T syrup which has a combination of codeine phosphate & Triprolidine Hydrochloride syrup.

Hello,

You should see an ENT specialist. You will need a cough syrup that contains codeine or dextromethorphan.

Other general measures also you should follow.

1) Drink plenty of warm fluids.
2) Practice voice rest.
3) Avoid air conditioning and fan.
4) Avoid cold foods.
5) do steam inhalation 4 times a day.

If your cough does not subside even with the above-mentioned medicines then asthma will have to be ruled out.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
