Suggest Treatment For Persistent Cough

Hello, In October 9th I was diagnosed with nonischemic dilated cardiomyopathy. 29 years of age with a lvef of 40%. Past 6 ecg s abnormal this year, PVC S that have developed sense late July current heart rate has also been sitting in the 40 s- 50 s. SVT s for 3weeks in march and hospitalized for heart rate in 140 s. Have had a nagging dry cough for the past 3 1/2 months that is getting slowly worse and have had to start sleeping elevated due to the coughing at night. First BNP kidney, liver, glucose, sodium, calcium, and potassium panel was stable but, I am not aware yet of the actual result numbers for for the cardiac panel regarding the BNP. My question regarding my cough. I do have asthma and allergies normally and use pro air and qvar with allergy meds but, the qvar and pro air hasn t even helped. I also haven t ran a fever, had any sinus drainage and so on. Two I it will depend on my result values for the BNP as this was my first BNP what would a stable reading mean for someone who has other health condtions.

Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your situation and problem.
By your history and description, possibility of congestive cardiac failure (CCF) is high.
Symptoms like coughing especially at night, not improving with inhaled treatment with ejection fraction of 40% suggest cardiac failure more.
You are mostly having high BNP levels.
Along with head up position, you need diuretic drugs.
Cardiac failure causes fluid retention in the body. So excess of fluid accumulates in the lungs and cause Pulmonary edema.
Coughing is the earliest symptom of Pulmonary edema.
So you need diuretic and inotropic drugs.
Diuretics will increase urine output and reduce fluid overload.
Inotropic drugs will improve force of contraction of heart and fluid circulation in the body.
So consult your doctor and discuss about diuretics and inotropic drugs.
Hope I have solved your query.
Wish you good health. Thanks.
