General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The most common reasons for persistent coughing would be a postnasal drip, asthma, GERD, non-asthmatic eosinophilic bronchitis.

Post nasal drip is the most common and 20% of persons are not aware of the drip itself. The use of a nasal spray and decongestant helps with this issue.

Numbness and other altered sensation may be related to nerves in the area.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
