Hi , I am a 36 yo Male And I Have Been Sick With URI X 6 weeks now. I have been on Zpak , Biaxin, 9 day steroid taper and Levaquin. I have had a cough for about 6 weeks now as well. My right rib cage is starting to hurt badly again. I am getting no relief. I have been to ER twice now. My lactic acid was a little elevated at 2.3 . My wbc was elevated at14.8 . D Dimer 200 . X-ray chest clear...r.they suggested pneumonia and pleurisy but it keeps coming back.
I have gone through your query regarding cough with pain in chest, as you said your X-Ray chest is clear but there are signs of pleurisy and pneumonia. These pathological conditions are responsible for pain in chest.
No doubt you are having infection in respiratory tract as your blood counts are raised. Keeping all these things in mind you should consult a chest specialist for thorough examination and necessary investigations for planing the treatment.
Thanks for consulting H.C.M.
