Suggest Treatment For Peptic Ulcer During 6th Week Of Pregnancy

Hi, I have really bad stomach ulcers/ inflammation. I m 6 weeks pregnant, I am very worried If I will cope with the pregnancy especially because most of the time I lie flat with my belly when the pain gets really sore. My worry is what will I do when my tummy is all big and hard while suffering from such terrible stomach ulcers.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

First of all it's sad to know what you had been going through lately. Based on the history you have shared, it's advised to get gastroenterologist review in this regards till then you should avoid all oily foods and cold drinks.

Medicines like sucralfate can be taken in pregnancy but after review by gynaecologist and gastroenterologist. Avoid all the painkiller medicines as well.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
