Suggest Treatment For Passage Of White Strings In Stools
Hello. For the past month or so I have had stringy white stuff in stools more than once a week. Tonight I used the bathroom and it just sounded like I passed gas and went to flush and it was either mucus or worms or I don t even know? I am worried. What should I do?? Mackenzie
Hi thanks for asking question. You are passing mostly mucus in stool. Here are few possibility.
1.First you can have simple enteritis like infection by bacteria.ex.shigella or E.colitis. Stool examination done .It might reveal pus cell and bacteria.Antibiotic given for it.
2.Secondly this could be by parasitic infection.stool examine action may reveal egg or trophozoites of ameba or giardiasis like parasite.Accordingly albendazole or metronidazole may needed.

If still cause not clear , USG or endoscopy examination needed. Meanwhile drink more water with green leafy vegetables. Wish you good health. Dr.path
