Hi,

First of all you should keep blood glucose under a tight control by taking the medications and eating healthy food. Moreover, your father should do urine test for protein, examine his eyes and measure HgA1c every 6 months, besides doing kidney function test every year. He should also take vitamin B complex once per day after meals, Benfotiamine once per day after meals. Finally his doctor should examine the tube using for feeding and make sure it is stable.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mustafa, Neurologist
