Suggest Treatment For Painful Swelling On The Tongue

I had an allergic reaction to an Antibiotic with Sulfa in it. My Tongue swelled to the point of drooling. Stayed that way for abou 4 hours before getting medical help. How long before the pain goes away? I try to eat but seems to aggravate my tongue, so it hurts to eat.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

As per your complain sulpha drugs are commonly seen to cause allergic reaction and swollen tongue seems to be a severe side effect of the the antibiotic..

The symptoms caused by the drug will resolve gradually as the effect of the antibiotic will gradually wean off from the body..

Therefore as of now you should continue to take anti-allergics like Levocetrizine and along with it you should take anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen to reduce pain..
You should such ice pops..
Gargle with numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
