General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for using HCM.
If you have a lump at your wrist it very likely is ganglion cyst. In your case You can use pain killers and immobilize the joint to help with pain and if no improvement surgery would be needed for definitive treatment.
If it is not very painful and the cyst has been there for a short period of time and has thin walls pressing over it to burst it, might have a cure rate of 40%. Also numbing the area and doing aspiration of the liquid has a 40 % cure rate and 85% if aspirated 3 times. Aspiration should be done by a medical staff and never try to puncture it yourself- it is a high risk of infection in the joint.
Hope this is helpful and answers to your question.
