Suggest Treatment For Painful Lump Behind Ear Over Jaw Bone

hi i have a really hard lump behind my right ear,noticed it the other day and went to emergency doctors at the hospital,however the doc i saw seemed to not really want to listen to what i said he seemed more interested in getting me out the door a.s.ap that was sunday..he gave me antibiotics as he said that it was a swollen gland...however on monday i woke up in a real lot of pain and i mean a lot and discovered that now i have a lump about half way down my jaw bone on the right side of my face. PLease help me both lumps are causing me a lot of pain and painkillers are not working.

I have gone through your query and can understand..

As per your complain it seems that you have inflammation and swelling of Post auricular group of lymph nodes and can be due to conditions like infections in head and neck region..
I would however suggest you to consult an ENT expert and get evaluated and he can advise you to get a Biopsy of the lymph nodes done to rule out the exact cause of swollen lymph nodes and treatment can be planned accordingly..
In case if it is due to infections, you can be advised to take antibiotics like Augmentin, anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, steroid and also do cool compresses over the lymph nodes..
As of now to relieve pain you can take higher painkillers like Tramadol..
