Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I have heel spur in both feet and it has been diagnosed in the x-ray. I took 2 injections of depo-medrol 80 mg , one in each heel of my foot in March 2014. I felt well after the injection. Now after 6 months the pain is back again. I went to 2 hospitals in Sacramento, CA; but the doctors didn t agree to give me the shot. I have been suffering for a month with no solution to my problem. Please help me. Sulaf
It is advisable to wear low heel shoe to maintain centre of gravity of whole body. Shoe/footwear should be with soft sole. You can use silicon pad insoles. You should not walk bare foot at home also. Avoid exposure of cold to foot.
Start plantar exercises consulting physiotherapist also Physiotherapy like TENS and ultrasound will help. Some times tapping to foot may also help to relieve pain. Take calcium supplement with vit D.
If no relief with this line of treatment then second local injection shot can give pain relief for longer duration. Last modality is minimally invasive surgery to release inflamed tissue. You can do plantar fascia release arthroscopically.
Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.
Hello,Thanks for your query. After going through your query I came to know that you got planter fascitis both feet. Your x-ray shows spurs. You have taken 2 injections of depo-medrol 80 mg , one in each heel of foot in March 2014.This relieved you. In my opinion this is best treatment as it give immediate relief .If I were your doctor ,probably I will again give steroid injection however I use Triamcilone in place of depomedrol. Doctors are not agree to give you this . Alternate treatment is hot fomentation and analgesics(diclofenac) and using soft footwears. You can discuss with your treating Doctor about it.I do hope that you have found something helpful. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.
