Suggest Treatment For Painful Breathing Post Injury With History Of DVT
Hi Am 68 yrs old. Slipped off bottom step of carpeted stairs 2 days ago. Hit mid back hard. Minimal soreness during day, sitting on sofa, Great pain in bed and when bending over - sharp pain and hard to catch breath. History of DVTs and pulmonary emboli due to prothrombin gene mutation. I thought I was just bruised and would wait it out, but now I am second guessing that choice. I am on Warfarin and I notified my Coumadin clinic after it happened. They did not seem overly alarmed. Am I over reacting. Should I wait it out for a few more days or should I visit my doctor.
Thanks for contacting HCM with your health care concerns I see that you are concerned about having a fall recently and injuring your chest. This fall was significant enough to cause you pain and now difficulty breathing. You history is also significant for DVT and Pulmonary embolism and you are on warfarin. Due to the significant nature of your fall and your symptoms I recommend that you seek medical attention. It is possible that the fall caused fractured ribs and that you may also have injured your lungs. Please proceed to your doctor for more diagnostic testing.
