Suggest Treatment For Pain In The Tonsils And Dry Throat

I have had red veiny lines in the back of my throat for 3-4 days. There is slight pain but my tonsils don't feel swollen and it only hurts very little to swallow. I also have this tickle that keeps making me cough when my throat gets dry. I thought it might just be from post-nasal drip but I have no other symptoms of a cold...no headache, fever, chills, or stuffy/runny nose. Trying to determine if I should go to the doctor or if it will go away on its own.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that the red veiny throat along with pain during swallowing and cough occuring due to ticking nd irritation in throat as well as dryness in throat seems to be due to throat infection that can be bacterial or viral in nature..
As there are no other cold symptoms it seems to be most probably due to bacterial infection..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like throat swab culture can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
You can be advised a course of antibiotics, anti inflammatory painkiller like Advil or Motrin, do warm saline gargles, steam inhalations and use a humidifier in your room..
You can suck throat lozenges and avoid spicy and chilled foods..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
