Suggest Treatment For Pain In The Ball Of The Right Foot

For 20 years I ve had pain in the ball of my right foot when walking on hard surfaces. I ve seen an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in the foot and 2 podiatrists. There is no agreement in the etiology of my pain. I do have a bunion, but the pain is nowhere near the big toe. The next toe is a hammer toe. The pain seems to be between toes 3 and 4 and actually makes toe 3 move apart from toe 4 and under two 2. It is excruciating pain. I stopped walking and bought a bicycle. Today, with my Nikes with orthotics, I biked 10 miles and by mile 9 I had the same type of pain as I would get walking 0.5 miles on a hard surface. I ve been diagnosed with Morton s neuroma, plantar fasciaitis, and one toe too long. What can I do? I thought I d found the answer to my exercise dilema - i LOVE biking, but to have to stop at 9 miles is discouraging. Can anyone help with a tie-breaker diagnosis?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I think as tarsal tunnel syndrome affecting nerve supplying the painful toes.

You need to go for an MRI of the foot & get an expert orthopedic surgeon for needful treatment (surgical medicinal or physiotherapy).

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
