Suggest Treatment For Pain In The Ankle And Lower Calf

I have been having pain in my ankle and lower calf. It started last night and is still hurting pretty bad. I have a condition where my blood vessels are thin and sometimes get those little purple marks on my legs but they don t hurt. As I said, this just started last night.

Hi,

First of all it's sad to know what you had been going through lately.

Based on the history you have shared, you need to get it reviewed and get ultrasound Doppler of the lower leg to rule out any clotted blood or decreased flow in blood vessels of the same leg.

Uric acid levels may also be needed to be evaluated. Orthopedic surgeon review is a must.

Meanwhile OTC analgesics like acetaminophen or Ibuprofen can be used for symptomatic relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
