Suggest Treatment For Pain In My Upperleft Back Area
I have a pain in my upperleft back area about 2 inches from my vertebrae. it hurts mostly when I lay down but sometimes just comes on when I m standing. It started a couple months ago after working at a computer job for a few months. also have something minor with the C2. Can the back be an extension from the C2. I ve been getting pain at night when trying to sleep as well, in the neck area.
Pain in the upper left back is commonly due to muscle strain, slip disc, osteoarthritis. It can also be due to poor posture, injury to the muscles or ligaments. You are suggested to maintain better posture. Take breaks from computer jobs from time to time. Change the mattress, make your bed more comfortable.
Get examined physically by a GP. Get Imaging tests for lumber & cervical spine. Your treatment will depend upon the severity of the pathology detected. In the meantime take NSAIDS for pain. You can take antacids if required. You may need the help of a Physiotherapist for exercises.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
