Suggest Treatment For Pain In Knee And Hip

I fell on my left foot, which slipped and I landed on my left knee, and hip. I went to Urgent Care. They took multiple x-rays of all three areas, and referred me to a podiatrist and another orthopedic doctor. The podiatrist detected some fracture in the foot and I have a cast on which is very uncomfortable and is pushing my knee backwards. This is the 2nd cast in two days as the first one was too high and pushing my knee backwards, causing balance and movement issues. This one is very tight and rubbing the ankle bone and is still not allowing my knee to bend forward very much, thus putting strain on my right side where I have sciatica due to an old spinal injury and for which I have undergone 3 back surgeries. The doctor who looked at images of my hip area has diagnosed Ischial Bursitis and Hamstring Strain. I have no pain in my hamstring area, only in the bone that I sit on. On looking up Bursitis, I don t believe I have that either. It is frustrating. Should I go to a different doctor?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

If your hip and knee pain is caused by a muscle or tendon strain, osteoarthritis, or tendinitis, you can usually relieve it with over-the-counter pain medication such as acetaminophen or a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug such as ibuprofen or naproxen.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr AJEET SINGH, General & Family Physician
