Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had lower back pain just above and around my hips. It s more painful if I m bending down, and sitting. The best remedy for it seems to be walking but even then I have slight pain. I ve always had back problems but am usually able to get rid of it through. Message, excercise or chiropractic. I ve spent $600 already on these things and still gave severe pain around my hips...sometimes the pain travels to my neck. What could be causing this pain?
Hello and welcome to HCM, Pain in lower back around the hips which increases while bending and sitting is siggestive of musculoskeletal pain. Radiation of pain to neck suggests a neural pathway. Massage and exercise alone will not help, you first need to get the condition diagnosed by an orthopedician. Exercising or massaging without diagnosis can do more harm than good. Thus, clinical assessment and investigations to know the probable cause of pain is necessary to diagnose the condition and plan further management. The status of lower spine also needs to be assessed. Conditions like ankylosing spondylitis can cause lower back pain. Since, the pain is radiating to neck, any nerve entrapment also needs to be ruled out.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
