Hello,

In polymyalgia rheumatic (PMR) muscle stiffness and pain, especially in the shoulder joint, is commonly seen.

I assume you are seeing a rheumatologist for the same. Sometimes there is temporary relief is seen but relapse is common.

Steroids are the mainstay of treatment as just the painkillers alone don’t help much in this. Whenever patients come to me with similar symptoms I suggest them to consult a rheumatologist.

You can talk to your doctor regarding this, if required he will suggest you any dose adjustment in the medicines you are taking.

Along with that, I suggest you keep yourself active with regular exercise which can help efficiently to get some relief in symptoms in this illness.

Make sure you have enough vitamin D levels in your body. Also sometimes alcohol and smoking worsen the symptoms in some patients so stopping these can help them.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
