Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had all four wisdom teeth removed over two months ago. All was going fine until they had to removed a protruding bone from one of the areas of wisdom teeth removal. I have been in pain since. They didn't use stitches and said I wouldn't need a follow up but the pain actually radiates to my ear! How long does this dull, deep, bone ache hurt for?? Should I be concerned and what's the best thing to take for the discomfort/pain? Thanks for ANY help.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
As per your complain and presentation of symptoms if they removed the protruding bone and if it is done recently and you are not prescribed with painkillers it is obvious that there will be pain as there is a raw area..
Other thing that can cause pain that is radiating to ear can be due to infection at the site of bone removal..
You need to take ant-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen for pain relief for atleast 5 days.. Take a course of antibiotics like Amoxicillin for preventing or relieving infection.. Do warm saline gargles.. Do cool compresses on the cheek..
Gradually as the healing will proceed slowly the pain will also subside..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
