Suggest Treatment For Osteoarthritis Of Knee Joint

Hello Dr. I am a lady of 51 yrs age.I have seen a Knee Specialist (Orthopaedic)who suggested I have arthroscopy of my right knee which has been swollen and painful for a few months now. I've had "creaky" knees for many many years and early osteoarthritis of knee joint. I'd like to avoid surgery and believe ayurvedic treatment will help? My father had 2 knee replacements late in life; I'm afraid I may have inherited OA?Pse advise? PK, Johannesburg, South Africa

Hai,
Osteoarthritis is a degenerative disease.
Most of the elder people(above 55 to 60 yrs) will suffer from OA Due to degenerative process occurring in Knee joint.

Normally in Women menopause ,obesity, calcium deficiency will precipitate Osteo arthritis.

Inherited OA play less significance in your concern.because as age advances Degeneration of Bone will occur. we cannot stop that. but we can postpone and manage and prevent progression of the condition by maintaining proper weight, maintaining the calcium level, taking joint friendly foods along with certain knee stabilizing exercise.

however Depends on the condition and severity of Your knee joint usage of oral medication will be assessed.

ayurvedic medicine like Shilajith,Gugulu, shallaki, aswaganda, asthisamharaka will be very much helpful in grade I and grade II osteoarthritis.
External application like narayana tailam, pinda tailam will give temporary relief.

food and vegetable which contain mucilage like Okra, beans, moringa will be helpful in preventing and stabilizing your Knee joint.

Thank you
