Hello!
Usuay, cervical polyps protrude from the vulva and present as mass or growth. Sometimes, there may be sudden growth during pregnancy due to the hormonal changes that occur. Polyps are known to be associated with various symptoms like bleeding, cramps, recurrent infections, foul smelling discgarge, etc. If there are any of these signs noticed, a small procedure called polypectomy may be done under local anesthetic. Most of the times it is only conservative management by giving a course of antibiotics in case of infections. If the size is too small it can be left behind. However, if it is increasing the risk.of preterm labor, bleeding during labor and difficulties increase and requires excision. So, treatment largely varies with the patient and has to be discussed with the OBGYN. In case of any of the signs mentioned above, report to the OBGYN immediately. Hoping the best for your daughter!
