Suggest Treatment For Numbness In The Hand And Swelling In The Legs

My 33 yr old daughter has been having numbness in both arms and hands with pain and uneven swelling of legs and unable to see her ankles. She had leukemia when she was fifteen. She has panic attacks occasionally over the years but not severe. She has been checked for diabetes. She has also gained several pounds of 10 lbs in the last 3 weeks.

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

I understand your concern and would explain that her symptoms are suggestive of increased fluid retention. For this reason, it is important performing some tests in order to investigate on the possible causes:
- A cardiac ultrasound and NT pro BNP levels for possible heart failure
- Kidney and liver function tests
- Blood electrolytes
You should discuss with your doctor on the above tests.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
