Suggest Treatment For Numbness In Leg And Mouth

I got stung about 5 hours ago by an insect at least twice on my right ankle, but I didn t see it so don t know what it was. About an hour and a half later I was driving and a numbness started to creep up my leg and by the time I got to my destination 10 minutes later my mouth was beginning to get numb, but just on the right side. I took 2 Benadryl and had my daughter drive me home. My mouth is still a bit numb. I am breathing fine and the only side affect remaining seems to be the mouth numbness. Do I need to go to the ER or just wait it out and take more Benadryl in an hour?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the peri oral numbness is not normal part of casual incidence after insect bite. The Benadryl is used as an anti histamine for itching control and not effective in numbness issue. The raising numbness may lead to fascial paralysis as well and hence it is recommended to visit an ER without any delay or trial of further Benadryl.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
