General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

First of all, it's sad to know what your mother had been going through lately.

Based on the history you have shared, she needs to be assessed by a neurologist for any signs of Alzheimer's disease or Parkinson's however senile dementia may present with such symptoms.

These can also occur with psychiatric illnesses and may be reversible up to much extent with proper therapy.

Brain imaging to rule out atrophic changes needs to be done. Supplements for calcium D3, B12, B6 and folic acid as well as zinc may be helpful.

Ginkobiloba or mimentin may also be used.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
