Suggest Treatment For Loss Of Consciousness And Change In Pulse Rate

An episode, three or four minutes in duration, that begins with a seeming gradual tightening of my skin for a couple of minutes, and then a relaxation over about the same period. The feeling is semi-intense, but not painful, and there is no loss of consciousness or change in my pulse rate. I had three episodes in one day five or six weeks ago, and was examined by a doctor the next day. He found nothing abnormal, but ordered an MRI of my brain, which showed no abnormality. The phenomenon has resumed, and I have has six or seven more in the last two days, the most recent an hour ago. I am 93 years of age, and have always enjoyed good health. A broken hip, the result of a fall from a bicycle a dozen years ago, has gradually reduced my customary daily exercise almost to the vanishing point. I take diltiazem for atrial fibrillation -- I have had half a dozen episodes over four or five years, and that is the only medication I take, apart from a baby aspirin.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
the abnormal heart rhythm due to atrial fibrillation could be the reason for your uneasiness. the medication which you are taking is probably not adequate.
you need to make the heart rate regular by either using a potassium or sodium channel blocker like Cordarone
the MRI brain is normal which is a good sign. you can continue with a calcium channel blocker or a beta blocker to stabilize the blood pressure.
Also the aspirin is fine in order to prevent clots being stuck in the circulation.
