Suggest Treatment For Leukoplakia Of The Tongue

I have been dx with leukaplakia on the tongue- no drink/smoke/or chew- Eye ear nose throat doc said nothing to do that it may or may not leave on its own- meanwhile the discomfort is getting more irritating. Does coffee exacerbate the leukaplakia condition?

Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that if you are diagnosed with leukoplakia that is a precancerous lesion that occurs due to over production of Keratin but there is also disturbance in cells known as cell dysplasia..

It is a Precancerous lesion and needs medical assistance..
It can occur due to causes like irritation of mucosa with rough teeth, poor fitting dentures, tobacco chewing and smoking habit, rough fillings or crown while HIV can also be a cause..
Coffee is not seen to be a cause for leukoplakia..

I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a clinical evaluation and investigations like Biopsy can be done for diagnosis..

In case of Leukoplakia you can be advised Multivitamins and anti oxidants like Lycopene for atleast 2 to 3 months..
Get the underlying cause removed as if the irritation is removed the leukoplakia generally resolves..

At times surgical excision of the patches is also done if medication does not resolves it.

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
