Suggest Treatment For Leg Cramps And Weight Loss

The past few nights I have been having leg cramps (what I ve heard people call Charlie Horses). I am a male, age 57, and have lost 50 pounds since April 1st (2300 calories per day diet). The cramps have happened on 3 occasions after sleeping for awhile. I take a daily men s multi-vitamin along with 81mg aspirin and prescriptions for blood pressure, triglycerides, and thyroid underfunction.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Magnesium supplements and vitamin B complex supplements are found to be helpful in reducing leg cramps.

On the other hand, if you have not had a thorough metabolic profile done in the last year, I would recommend you to have the following tests:
- ALT, AST, bilirubin, albumin
- creatinine, electrolytes (Na+, Cl-, Ca++, K+)
- lipids and sugar levels
-TSH and FT4
- CBC and ERS

I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
