Suggest Treatment For Knot On Ribs After A Bruise

I play softball and dove back to a base wrong once. Instantly it knocked the breath out of me and my ribs had a knot on them and was bruised. I had an x-ray , nothing was broke and I don t have scoliosis. My left rib cage sticks out now further than my right and is very uneven. What could be wrong ?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
The trauma over the rib has caused bruising which is a normal finding.
Rib fractures are also common after rib trauma.
However, the X-ray chest has ruled out fracture of the rib cage
However, the swelling or the sticking out rib could be due to hematoma formation or even swelling associated with fracture rib.
Some fractures do not show up when fresh.
They appear on the X-ray after few days.
Thus, a repeat X-ray is recommended.
In case there is a fracture, rest and pain killers are required.
In case the swelling is due to soft tissue trauma, again rest and pain killers are required.
Consult your primary healthcare provider for clinical assessment, relevant investigations and thus management.

Thanks and take care
