my cat has itchy patches behind his ears and now on his hindquarters, we always keep him up to date on his flea meds and we have been applying a topicl ccat antibiotic we got at the Tractor Supply and I have been bbrushing him every day but it is getting worse. I no longer believe it is flea related. what do you think it might be?
Understanding your concern .As per your query you have itchy patches behind ears. Well there can be many factors responsible for symptoms you mention in query like contact dermatitis , scalp Psoriasis , Seborrheic dermatitis , atopic dermatitis or skin infection . I would suggest you to try to note down the things which exaggerate it like some food ( nuts and seas food ) , skin products or things like ear rings and avoid them , apply petroleum jelly on rashes and take benadryl twice a day . Keep your skin clean and sry and also protect it from direct sunlight . If condition doesn't improve or get worse then consult dermatologist for proper examination . Doctor will examine physically and take history . Doctor may prescribe steroid ointment , medicated soap , topical immunosuppressants and anti allergic medicine .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
