Suggest Treatment For Itchy Bumps In A Child

My ten years old son has many bumps on his skin that itches badly. The doctor say he has scabies. He prescribed Permethrin cream 5 percent, and an anti itch cream. I used it on him from neck down once last Friday. Yesterday the itch starts again and he now has way more bumps than before he visited the doctor. What should I do? Do you think it is really scabies? He will start school in two days. Help me please!!

Hello,

I'm sorry your child is experiencing this. The doctor's prescription of Permethrin suggests he diagnosed your child with scabies, however, for the treatment to be successful and for scabies to be eradicated, it is mandatory that the entire household be treated too. On the contrary, your child will become reinfected. I recommend you buy enough Permethrin cream to treat each family member. You should start seeing the results the next day and your child will be good to go and ready for school. Good luck to him in school and all the best.
