Hello Irregular periods, amenorrhea ( no bleeding ) , are the characteristic features of poly Cystic Ovarian Disease ( cpod) in young age group patient. Diagnosis can be confirmed by ultrasound of both ovaries . 2nd reason of irregular bleeding ( amenorrhea ) may be hormonal imbalance so please get blood examination for estogen , androstenedione levels ( usually found raised) and FSH/LH ratio. The next possible reason may be uterine fibroid so get in an ultrasound of uterus for confirmation. Taking symptomatic treatment is not good in such type of cases , so consult a gynecologist and get his opinion. Good luck. Dr. HET
